Restaurants
There are several restaurants within walking distance or a short car ride of the Hobblebush House.
The Maia Papaya (7 min πΆπΌ, 1 min π) – This breakfast and lunch restaurant has excellent breakfast bagels and smoothies. They also serve coffee, baked goods, and lunch. They carry exclusively vegetarian and vegan options. Like most of Bethlehem, they close mid week. You can call ahead or walk in. They also showcase and sell art by local artists.
Lunch food truck (7 min πΆπΌ, 1 min π) – At lunch time, on the south side of Main street across from the Maia Papaya, there is often a food truck. I have seen both hot dogs and fresh donuts.
Rek’Lis Brewing (9 min πΆπΌ, 2 min π) – If you are looking for local beer and American fare, this is it. There are plenty of meat and vegetable options. I was a little disappointed they do not offer a Belgian ale. They do have live music most weekends. Check their website for the schedule. My kid loves this place because they have corn hole set up to play while waiting for your table. Outdoor seating is available in warm weather.
Pizza, deli and fried foods at the Village Store (10 min πΆπΌ, 2 min π) – There is a pizza bakery and deli at the back of the Village grocery store. They have some items hot for pick up, but I found those tasted old. Instead, I suggest calling and making an order for takeout. Their phone number is (603) 869-2201. They do not always pick up immediately, so you might have to try calling twice. The pizza is about what you would expect from a small town house of pizza.
Rosa Flamingos (10 min πΆπΌ, 2 min π) – This place has tasty Italian dinners. It is smaller than Rek’Lis, so you may want to make reservations on the weekend. Only open Wednesday through Sunday. Some nights they have live music. Outdoor seating is available in warm weather. Personally, this is my favorite place for dinner, even though it is a long walk.
Cold Mountain Cafe (12 min πΆπΌ, 2 min π) – This place’s menu online looks tasty, but I have never gotten there when they are open. I think covid drastically reduced their hours, and they might not have outdoor seating.
The Bethlehem town website lists more restaurants that are beyond walking range. And if you want more variety, Littleton offers lots of variety 10 minutes away.
Grocery Stores
The Bethlehem Village Store is a grocery store. (10 min πΆπΌ, 2 min π) Choices are limited, but they even have a small produce section. If you realize you forgot a couple things and do not want to drive, odds are you will find something here.
Littleton Food Coop (9 min π) – If you want local food or organic food, this is the place for you. They have a dazzling array of produce, bulk goods, and locally made products. However, if you bypass the first part of the store, you will find more conventional products in the second half near the cash registers.
Big box stores (11 min π) – If you want a more conventional grocery store, you can take I93 to exit 42 (junction with NH 302). Here you will find a commercial district with Shaws, Walmart, and a NH liquor store.
